Interdisciplinary and Interinstitutional Grants and Their Economic Impact: Growing the Blue Economy in Fall River

Description: The College of Engineering and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship have received a combined $862,000 grant in partnership with Northeastern University during the last funding cycle of the Seaport Economic Council (SEC). SEC awards are intended to grow the blue economy and support job creation and workforce development in coastal cities and towns. Ramprasad Balasubramanian, College of Engineering Associate Dean and Professor, and Toby Stapleton, Director, UMass Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, will discuss how the project aids local marine robotics, sensors, and marine technology startups. They will also discuss similar funding opportunities that are available in the commonwealth.
