Description: UMass Dartmouth's Annual Black History Month Show presented by Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity, Inc. Mu Chapter and the Black Student Union. The show was originally created by the Black Student Union and Sigma Phi Rho as a way to celebrate and educate our peers on Black Excellence. It is now one of the biggest collaborations on campus.

This year's the theme is "Breaking the Chains of Colonization", which will highlight the many ways colonization still effects us as a generation and as a people. There are many sub-topics that will be highlighted under this theme which include classism, colorism, poverty, immigration policies, war, mass incarceration and so much more. The committee has been working hard to make sure we push the educational component of the show, by carefully choosing the acts that will perform and the host. We have decided to have world-renown poet Porsha O. host the show and DJ Sham! for accompaniment.

This year's ticket prices include an option for donations that will benefit the Women's Center in New Bedford (A Women's Shelter) and Hayden McFadden Elementary School. Examples of donations include any and all hygienic items (feminine products, baby diapers, shampoo, razors, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, etc.) Items will be collected at the door to the Main Auditorium when entering for the show.
