Description: Born in Havana, Carlos Eire, PhD, is a national award-winning author and Professor of History and Religious Studies at Yale University. His books include "Waiting for Snow in Miami," which won the 2003 National Book Award for Nonfiction, and a second memoir published in 2011, "Learning to Die in Miami."

Carlos Eire was just 11 years old when he and his brother were among 14,000 children airlifted out of Castro's Cuba in the 1960s without their parents. Professor Eire chronicles his early boyhood in Cuba and his struggle to adjust to life in the U.S. as a teenager on his own. Be inspired by his very moving story.
