Translation as Writing Back and Portuguese-American Literature

Description: Please join us for a lecture in the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives (Claire T. Carney Library)by Margarida Vale de Gato, assistant professor at the University of Lisbon, where she coordinates the American Studies Program and co-coordinates the American Studies Research Group in the English Studies Center (ULICES).

In this event, Prof. Vale de Gato will talk about her trajectory as a translator, her own creative writing, as well as theoretical issues and practical translation problems concerning heritage and cultural (be)longing in Portuguese-American literature. She will also read some excerpts, which will be available for purchase.
