What did he know and when did he know it? Information about the Holocaust streamed into Washington in the summer, fall and winter of 1942, how did President Roosevelt react? Why?
Richard Breitman is the author or co-author of twelve books and many articles in German history, U. S. history, and the Holocaust.

FDR and the Jews, co-authored with Allan J. Lichtman, won the 2013 National Jewish Book Award in American Jewish Studies and was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in History.
Breitman is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at American University and is editor of the journal Holocaust and Genocide Studies.

Breitman was born in Hartford, CT. He received his B.A. from Yale and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard. He has an honorary doctorate from Hebrew Union College.
