Jacqueline Satlow, Rose Facchini, and Matthew Sneider will give a talk exploring how Primo Levi uses the Ulysses scene from Dante's Inferno in his novel If This Is a Man (1947). They will discuss the use of Dante's text to understand and come to terms with trauma. Rabbi Jacqueline Satlow is the Director of the Center of Religious and Spiritual Life, Rose Facchini is Professor of Italian, and Matthew Sneider is Professor of History, all of whom are faculty at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

This event is part of the Italian Studies Seminar Series 2017-2018, which is funded by the Provost's Departmental Seminar Series Grant. Light refreshments will be served.
