"The Winds of Change"

Crista Bank
Vineyard Wind

Wednesday, September 11, 2019
2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
SMAST East Rooms 101/102
836 S. Rodney French Blvd, New Bedford

Abstract:
The detrimental environmental impact from fossil fuels and nuclear energy are the direct cause of climate change, sea level rise, ocean acidification, and nuclear waste and yet only 11% of our energy comes from renewable sources. As clean energy plans advance regionally through state legislation, the best option to meet renewable energy goals is offshore wind. This seminar will focus on the
advancements and challenges the offshore wind industry faces from the perspective of Vineyard Wind as they work towards building the nation's first large-scale offshore wind energy project 15 miles south of Martha's Vineyard.
