Where: OFD Lounge, Library 220
Description: Active and collaborative learning techniques create a student-centered experience in the classroom, improving learning gains and student engagement. A recent meta-study of more than 200 studies of learning techniques by Freeman et al. [2014] found that active learning "is the preferred empirically validated teaching practice." These activities include in-class problem solving exercises, think-pair-share activities, clicker questions, and group projects. Join Professors John Buck (ECE), Robert Fisher (PHY), Shakhnoza Kayumova (STEM Ed) and Amit Tandon (MNE) for a panel discussion about their experiences teaching with active learning techniques.
