Introduction to LimeSurvey

- Description: UMass Dartmouth has selected LimeSurvey as our Internet survey tool. All Faculty and Staff have access to create and publish their own surveys. This workshop covers the authoring and administration of surveys, as well as data collection. Question types are covered in detail, and survey logic is also included. No previous survey experience is necessary.

BrowZine: Save Time and Stay Current with this New Mobile App

Presenters: Librarians Matt Sylvain and Hilary Kraus
Learn how to use BrowZine to create virtual bookshelves of library journals on your iOS and Android devices (e.g., iPhones, iPads, Samsung phones and tablets, etc). You'll see how an established BrowZine library enables you to browse table of contents and access full-text journal articles in just a few seconds. Hear about the use of the app at other institutions and how users can easily share and save articles using tools such as Dropbox, RefWorks and Zotero.
A mobile device is not required for participation, but participants with access to a device are encouraged to bring it.

Active Shooter

- Description: Active Shooter
A short history of active shooting incidents both nationally and globally with particular focus upon schools and other areas of mass assembly of people. While these incidents are thankfully few, the frequency of such tragedies is increasing. The presentation will examine basic elements of run, hide, fight that may increase chances of survival and are endorsed by the Department of Homeland Security, followed by a period of Q&A.

Kristen McHenry will present the results of the implementation of a differentiated teaching strategy (using a R.A.F.T) into the WGS classroom.
Chan Du will discuss the implementation of reflective thinking and its impact on students' learning in Intermediate Accounting II course.

Introduction to InDesign, Part 1

- Description: InDesign is a sophisticated page layout and graphic design tool geared toward print publication. The first workshop in the three part series covers the basics of Adobe InDesign, and is intended for users with little or no InDesign experience. Topics covered include working with the toolbox, palettes and document window, as well as setting up pages, guides and grids.

Blackboard Collaborate

- Description: This workshop will demonstrate Blackboard Collaborate, a live conferencing tool that uses a virtual online classroom to meet live within a myCourses course site. Using Collaborate, faculty can interact virtually with students for lectures, guest presentations, share applications, host virtual office hours and meetings. This technology integrates seamlessly into your myCourses site and simply requires speakers and microphone.

Excel Pivot Tables

- Description: This workshop provides a thorough exploration of the use of tables, pivot tables and pivot charts in Excel. Participants create pivot tables to summarize hundreds of rows of transactional data in just a few clicks, without complex formulas, or time-consuming grouping and reorganization. Previous Excel experience is required.
