TOPIC:
Application of Lean Six Sigma Methodology in a Primary Care Medical Setting
ABSTRACT
This study adopts the processes found in the Lean methodology of quality control as well as the statistical analysis tools of six sigma to study the workplace efficiency of a health care setting. The health care setting is that of a primary care office staffed by multiple primary care providers and their support staff that deals with patients for a variety of visits that fall in the purview of family medicine/primary care. Proper statistical analysis through the use of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and one-sample z-testing were used to study the effectiveness of the kaizen process that was implemented in the office to see the results of the lean six sigma process.
