Online Teaching and Learning Strategies Course
- Location: Online

- Description: In this course, we will introduce you to current research and best practices for both online and blended teaching as well as showcase examples of successful teaching strategies for both methodologies. Throughout the courseyou will work both independently and collaboratively with your peers to gain valuable online course transition experience and develop strategies in online teaching and learning. As a participant, you will learn both pedagogical aspects of teaching online as well as how to use and incorporate many of the tools available in the myCourses Learning Management System used at UMD. The ultimate goal of the course is to have you begin planning, organizing and building the course you eventually plan to teach. In addition, this course will introduce you to tools that will teach you how to self-assess course site design to ensure student ease of access to course content and to facilitate more streamlined student learning and retention. The workshop includes a focus on assessment to help faculty not only assess student learning outcomes, but also to assess how well the “blend” works to facilitate student learning.
