Online Teaching and Learning Strategies Course

- Description: In this course, we will introduce you to current research and best practices for both online and blended teaching as well as showcase examples of successful teaching strategies for both methodologies. Throughout the courseyou will work both independently and collaboratively with your peers to gain valuable online course transition experience and develop strategies in online teaching and learning. As a participant, you will learn both pedagogical aspects of teaching online as well as how to use and incorporate many of the tools available in the myCourses Learning Management System used at UMD. The ultimate goal of the course is to have you begin planning, organizing and building the course you eventually plan to teach. In addition, this course will introduce you to tools that will teach you how to self-assess course site design to ensure student ease of access to course content and to facilitate more streamlined student learning and retention. Please note: This course is offered entirely online and will be conducted over a four week time frame.

Recording with Camtasia Relay
- Location: Claire T. Carney Library, Room 225

- Description: Camtasia Relay is a software based lecture capture and personal recording solution. Relay can record PowerPoint presentations or any other content displayed on your computer screen, in addition to audio narration and web cam video. You can record anywhere, anytime regardless of internet connectivity or location. After recording, the video is automatically processed by the Relay server and uploaded to a cloud based storage provider. This workshop will walk through the process of installing Relay, recording and linking to the video from myCourses.
Please bring your own laptop if you would like to participate in this Workshop.

Blended Learning: Finding the Mix

- Description: This online workshop focuses on blended learning strategies and developing faculty abilities to successfully integrate online components of a course with face-to-face components. Faculty are invited to engage in a 10-day asynchronous workshop designed to introduce blended learning techniques and facilitate faculty planning of a blended course. The workshop includes a focus on assessment to help faculty not only assess student learning outcomes, but also to assess how well the “blend” works to facilitate student learning.
