Online Teaching and Learning Strategies Training

- Description: In this training course, we will introduce you to current research and best practices for both online and blended teaching as well as showcase examples of successful teaching strategies for both methodologies. Throughout the training you will work both independently and collaboratively with your peers to gain valuable online course transition experience and develop strategies in online teaching and learning. As a training participant, you will learn both pedagogical aspects of teaching online as well as how to use and incorporate many of the tools available in the myCourses Learning Management System used at UMD. The ultimate goal of the training is to have you begin planning, organizing and building the course you eventually plan to teach. In addition, this training will introduce you to tools that will teach you how to self-assess course site design to ensure student ease of access to course content and to facilitate more streamlined student learning and retention.
Please note: This training is offered entirely online and will be conducted over a four week time frame.

Blending with Online Tutorials
- Location: Claire T. Carney Library, Room 314
- Contact: CITS Instructional Development
- Description: Professor Doug Roscoe, recipient of the 2013 Provost’s Award for Innovative Use of Technology will discuss his strategy for utilizing customized online video tutorials to instruct students in the use of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software. Doug will discuss advantages, challenges and data that support the effectiveness of the strategy in PSC 349, Research Methods in Political Science.
