Abstract geometric paintings by New Bedford artist John Havens Thornton (b. 1933). Thornton has exhibited since the early 1960s, notably at the ICA, Boston (1967), the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (1970), the Whitney Museum of American Art (1967), the Rose Art Museum, Waltham, MA (1979), the De Cordova Museum, Lincoln, MA (1987), and the New Bedford Art Museum, MA (2004).

Helm, School for Marine Science & Technology Dean Steven Lohrenz,Division of Marine Fisheries, and local and state officials for a major milestone in the expansion of the School for Marine Science and Technology – an unveiling of the final steel beam installed on the project.

This 60,000 square foot facility, built in partnership with the state Division of Marine Fisheries, more than doubles UMass Dartmouth’s marine science presence in New Bedford, the nation’s top fishing port and an emerging center of offshore wind energy development. Due to open in 2017, this facility will add to an existing 35,000 square foot marine science laboratory to create a two-building site that will accommodate 150 marine scientists, students, and support staff.
The School for Marine Science and Technology is recognized for excellence and impact in the areas of sustainable fisheries, coastal preservation, ocean observation and climate change.

Recording with Techsmith Relay
- Location: Claire T. Carney Library, Room 226

- Description: Techsmith Relay is a software based lecture capture and personal recording solution. Relay can record PowerPoint presentations or any other content displayed on your computer screen, in addition to audio narration and web cam video. You can record anywhere, anytime regardless of internet connectivity or location. After recording, the video is automatically processed by the Relay server and uploaded to a cloud based storage provider. This workshop will walk through the process of installing Relay, recording and linking to the video from myCourses. Please bring your own laptop if you would like to participate in this Workshop.

- Description: Cory Palazzi - former UMass Dartmouth student, captain of the Taunton High School varsity baseball team, and National Honor Society member - developed a substance use disorder following a sports-related shoulder injury, overdosed, and is now suber but permanently disabled. Join Cory and his partents as they recount Cory's road from adversity to advocacy.
