Online Teaching and Learning Strategies Training

- Description: In this training course, we will introduce you to current research and best practices for both online and blended teaching as well as showcase examples of successful teaching strategies for both methodologies. Throughout the training you will work both independently and collaboratively with your peers to gain valuable online course transition experience and develop strategies in online teaching and learning. As a training participant, you will learn both pedagogical aspects of teaching online as well as how to use and incorporate many of the tools available in the myCourses Learning Management System used at UMD. The ultimate goal of the training is to have you begin planning, organizing and building the course you eventually plan to teach. In addition, this training will introduce you to tools that will teach you how to self-assess course site design to ensure student ease of access to course content and to facilitate more streamlined student learning and retention.
Please note: This training is offered entirely online and will be conducted over a four week time frame.

- Description: As a supervisor of union employees, it is important that you understand the terms and condition of the union contract. Doing so will ensure respectful employee relations and a productive work environment. This is a 3 part series that will provide great insight to AFSCME and ESU Contracts as it pertains to:
* The performance management process and forms as well as progressive discipline
* The steps of the grievance process and your role
* Responsibilities and rules for managing and accounting for time and attendance
* Personnel management issues including promotions, vacancies, upgrades, reclassifications, etc
* Management rights and more.
