Everyone experiences aging. By 2030, 1 in 5 people will be 65 or older. Careers in aging are one of the fastest growing areas. This Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from 3:30-5:00pm, a Careers in Aging Week (CIAW) booth will be held outside the START Advising Center (LARTS 114). Please feel free to drop by to pick up information on careers in aging, as well as information on the Aging and Health (AGH) minor available to all undergraduates here at UMass Dartmouth.

- Description: This online workshop focuses on blended learning strategies and developing faculty abilities to successfully integrate online components of a course with face-to-face components Faculty are invited to engage in a 10 day asynchronous workshop designed to introduce blended learning techniques and facilitate faculty planning of a blended course. The workshop includes a focus on assessment to help faculty not only assess student learning outcomes, but also to assess how well the “blend” works to facilitate student learning.

- Description: Join Malcolm Brown, EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative director, and Veronica Diaz, ELI associate director, as they moderate this special two-hour webinar hosted by the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative and Quality Matters. This webinar will provide you with examples and tools to craft plans that measure the effectiveness of your online/blended instructional programs and their impact on student learning and success. You will explore rubrics, hear about institutional efforts, and engage in activities that relate to quality assurance work. The purpose of the event is to understand some approaches to measure the effectiveness of online/blended learning programs:
Learn about national research efforts on quality assurance in online/blended environments
Gather ideas on demonstrating the efficacy of your online/blended learning implementations

Safe Zone Training
- Location: Campus Center

- Description: Safe Zone Training is designed to increase awareness, knowledge, and support of LGBTQ people and issues. The training was also established to build a visible support network of LGBTQ Allies at UMass Dartmouth and to improve campus climate for LGBTQ individuals. During the course of this training attendees will participate in activities and be provided with material involving homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, and cissexism and will learn skills on how to actively support those who identify as LGBTQ regardless of societal oppression. At the end of the training participants will be provided with a sticker to display that they have completed the training and that their office is an LGBTQ Safe Zone on campus.
Safe Zone Training is open to Faculty, Staff and Students.
Participants must register prior to the training.

- Description: This workshop is geared toward educators who wish to simplify the process of evaluating student performance and calculating final grades. Participants learn how to organize student data on a worksheet, calculate averages, weighted averages, and use a lookup table to control the contribution of different scores toward a student's final grade. Excel can even convert number grades to letter grades automatically! Also covered are some of Excel's statistical functions. Previous Excel experience is required.
