Junior Nursing Student Introduction to Mentorship and Proposal Writing
- Location: DION Building
, 285 Old Westport Road, Dartmouth, MA
- Contact: College of Nursing & Health Sciences
- Description: This workshop provides an introduction to Nursing 455. The process of identifying preferences for clinical as well the writing of the proposal will be presented. It is expected that most students will have the bulk of their proposal completed by the end of the 2-hour period.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
1. Think about your preferences for mentorship – please note these are preferences not choices.
2. Review the sample proposals that will be emailed to you
3. Bring a Flash drive with you to save your proposal. The flash drive is your ticket to be admitted. If you do not have a flash drive, you will not be able to stay. You need to save the work you do.
4. Please be on time

Online Teaching and Learning Strategies Training
- Location: Online
- Contact: CITS Instructional Development
- Description: In this training course, we will introduce you to current research and best practices for both online and blended teaching as well as showcase examples of successful teaching strategies for both methodologies. Throughout the training you will work both independently and collaboratively with your peers to gain valuable online course transition experience and develop strategies in online teaching and learning. As a training participant, you will learn both pedagogical aspects of teaching online as well as how to use and incorporate many of the tools available in the myCourses Learning Management System used at UMD. The ultimate goal of the training is to have you begin planning, organizing and building the course you eventually plan to teach. In addition, this training will introduce you to tools that will teach you how to self-assess course site design to ensure student ease of access to course content and to facilitate more streamlined student learning and retention.
Please note: This training is offered entirely online and will be conducted over a four week time frame.

Excel Pivot Tables

- Description: This workshop provides a thorough exploration of the use of tables, pivot tables and pivot charts in Excel. Participants create pivot tables to summarize hundreds of rows of transactional data is just a few clicks, without complex formulas, or time-consuming grouping and reorganization. Previous Excel experience is required.
