Abstract:
The Northeast Regional Habitat Assessment, or NRHA, is a collaborative effort to describe and characterize estuarine, coastal, and offshore fish habitat distribution, abundance, and quality in the Northeast U.S. The project aligns habitat science priorities with human and financial resources contributed by multiple partner agencies and organizations to generate a range of habitat science products. These products will support fisheries management decisions, such as essential fish habitat designations, stock assessments, and spatial management. This presentation will review the range of products under development, including single-species and joint habitat distribution models, an inventory of fish and habitat data, a habitat/fish climate vulnerability crosswalk, a web-based R-shiny data viewer, and more. Final product development and vetting is occurring now, and results will be available in late spring. The three-year assessment will formally conclude in July 2022, but long-term maintenance plans are under development.
