Faculty mentors play a crucial role in the success of graduate students. The mentor's responsibilities extend well beyond helping students learn what's entailed in the research and writing components of graduate school. Mentors help guide and socialize the student into the profession, model professional responsibility, offer constructive feedback, and oversee the student's professional development in the discipline. Drs Sethares, Bell, and O'Connor will share with you some of their experiences in mentoring graduate students and engage in a discussion on some practices they have utilized to ensuring high quality mentoring relationships.

This event is open to UMassD faculty participants. The workshop will be conducted in a hybrid modality. To register, please email Ellen Mandly at emandly@umassd.edu. Please indicate your preference for in-person or virtual participation when registering. Individually wrapped lunches, which can be enjoyed during the workshop or taken "to go," will be provided for in-person participants.
Topical Areas: Faculty, Staff and Administrators, Faculty Development
