Description: Topic: ABET Assessment System

Location: Lester W. Cory Conference Room, Science & Engineering Building (SENG), Room 213A

Abstract:
ABET is the U.S. accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. ABET accredits over 3,300 programs at more than 680 colleges and universities in 24 countries. The ABET Criteria for Accrediting Engineering Programs is based upon what students learn and are able to do in the course of their program of studies as opposed to what they are presented in a curriculum. Institutions are required to have educational objectives and to have some way of assessing how well program goals and objectives are being reached. This assessment also known as the program outcome measurement (POME) is then used constantly make improvements to the program.

This ABET assessment system will be used to generate those assessments. The system will need to be set up each semester by an administrator. Once setup, each professor will login and enter all of the measures (grades) they have captured from their students. Once setup and all grades have been entered the ABET assessment is automatically generated in the POMEs tab of the system. This will streamline the POME creation method as the previous method was performed by multiple individuals and proved to be a tedious activity. Each of the Professors would generate their own Course Outcome Measurement (COME). Each of these COMEs would be combined manually to create the POME for each major. Thus this system would save the department a great deal of time and effort.

NOTE: All ECE Graduate Students are ENCOURAGED to attend.
All interested parties are invited to attend. Open to the public.
