Description: Topic: Acoustic Radiation of Electroacoustic Cylindrical Transducers

Zoom Teleconference: https://umassd.zoom.us/j/91797765196

Abstract:
The acoustic radiation of underwater, piezoceramic, cylindrical transducers was investigated. An experimental investigation of the directional factors, transmit frequency response, and impedance of cylindrical transducers as a function of aspect ratio and for different design boundary conditions including fluid-filled, air-backed, and open-closed (squirter) configurations is presented. Results for the directional factor of the free-flooded transducer designs were compared with an analytical model of an array of toroidal rings and shows good agreement. Marine application of such transducers include communication, navigation, sonar and location pingers. (Work supported in part by the ONR-UMassD MUST research program.)

Note: All ECE Graduate Students are ENCOURAGED to join the zoom teleconference. All interested parties are invited to join.
