Description: A critical look at processes and rules through the nexus of Race, Gender, and Social Class
The concept of due process, particularly with recent court decisions and regulations from the government, will significantly hurt students (complainant or respondent) as Higher Ed institutions are being pushed to mirror court systems rather than educational systems. This workshop and conversation will look at how institutional processes often work to preserve and strengthen the status quo. As leaders involved in the educational system with power the shape the student experience, the need to develop all of our processes to not mirror and reproduce our court system already embedded in inequality but to use a socially just, educational, and developmental lens, becomes central to our work both in and out of the classroom.
Presented by Cathy Cocks, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor/Dean of Student Affairs.
