The Episcopal Campus Ministry at UMass Dartmouth and the Center for Spiritual and Religious Life will host a very important Gun Violence Awareness event, "Swords to Plowshares: Transforming Guns into Garden Tools" on Sunday, November 6, 2022 beginning at 10:00AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 351 Elm Street in Dartmouth, MA. All UMassD students, faculty and staff are invited to attend. The day will begin with a "Prayer Service of Lament for Gun Violence" followed by an outdoor forge demonstration using blacksmithing techniques. Previously surrendered gun barrels will be transformed into garden tools. The blacksmith will be the Right Reverend James E. Curry, retired Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut, a founding member of Bishops United Against Gun Violence. The organization sees as its mission to build coalitions of community groups that will build a sustainable effort to help reduce gun violence. For more information, please contact Rev. Scott A.
