LIB 213
Join OFD Assistant Director Tom Hertweck to explore the pedagogy of "small teaching" as developed by the noted teaching and learning scholar, James Lang. "Small teaching" refers to a pattern of small, often low-stakes improvements or innovations one can make to a course (or part of a course) with the aim of promoting student engagement and student success. We'll examine different tactics, such as prediction or retrieval exercises at the start of class; principles of course design (across modalities); metacognition and transparency; and increasing student motivation.
To register for the workshop, please email Ellen Mandly at emandly@umassd.edu. This session will overlap with the New Faculty Institute.
