Description: Physics Master of Science Research Project by Dasheng Zhang
Date: May 26, 2023
Time: 1:00pm
Topic The Strong Subadditivity of Von Neumann Entropy
Zoom: https://umassd.zoom.us/j/99868573376?pwd=SFA0ZFRuYnlZbkVEK1ZHVlZ5Rld6Zz09
Abstract:
This masters project focuses on the use of von Neumann entropy as a measure of quantum information and its strong subadditivity property. I will discuss applications of this property and a proof given by Nielsen and Petz. I will also describe future directions, such as exploring ways to make certain aspects of the proof more closely resemble its classical counterpart.
Advisor(s): Dr. David Kagan, Department of Physics (David.kagan@umassd.edu)
NOTE: All PHY Graduate Students are ENCOURAGED to attend.
Open to the public. All interested parties are invited to attend.
